I'm Gianluca, bass teacher in Rotterdam.
I started playing and studying music since I was a child, over the years I attended several conservatories focusing my studies on electric bass and double bass, passing through complementary instruments all the way up to film scoring.
My passion for music has led me to explore various genres, collaborate with renowned artists and contribute my talent to a wide range of projects.
Since 2005 I have been regularly performing concerts, I played a pivotal role in various bands and artists known in the Italian pop scene, touring extensively across Italy and Europe, playing over 2000 concerts.
I have been actively involved in teaching for more than a decade, sharing my knowledge and passion for music, teaching electric bass, ensemble music and music theory in several music schools.
In addition to being a bass player, I am also a music producer and composer for films and multimedia.
I have a huge passion for everything related to funk music, but I have always liked to range across different genres, such as Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pop and Electronic.
My biggest influences include Marcus Miller, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Miles Davis, Robert Glasper, Kendrick Lamar, J Dilla and Jill Scott.
The most important thing I want to teach you is the passion for the instrument and music in general. I have been teaching for a long time and fun is the most important thing during my lessons.
Master in Film Scoring at Conservatory of Rovigo (IT)
Bachelor Degree in Jazz Electric Bass at Conservatory of Bologna (IT)
Bachelor Degree in Classical Music Double Bass at Conservatory of Modena (IT)
Music is passion, art, expressiveness but alongside it there is also discipline, so as a teacher I like to introduce to my students both sides of music: the technical side, music theory, reading notes, technique and posture, and the more practical side where I stimulate students to let themselves be guided by their intuition based on their musical tastes, so that they learn to play their favorite songs in a very short time and immediately enjoy music through the bass, developing the ear training technique as much as possible.
During my lessons you will learn all the important techniques to play your favorite music, from the basic technique to the slap through the plectrum and palm mute technique.
The whole electronic side is also part of my lessons, from amplifiers to effects, everything you need to understand how to build a good bass sound, your bass sound!
Haven't bought your bass yet? Don't worry, during the first lessons there will always be an instrument for you in my studio ready to be played and in the meantime we can decide together which instrument is best suited to you by guiding you in your first purchase.
Besides playing bass I have a deep knowledge of music theory and harmony, and I can prepare students for conservatory auditions and competitions.
Delving into these subjects not only enriches your musical background but allows you to understand what are the elements that make up music by understanding the connections between theory and your instrument, changing your point of view and your playing.
So if you want you can book theory and harmony lessons but it is also possible to combine it with the bass course in the same lesson.
