Hallo! Ik ben Mirko Jaws. Ik kom uit Argentinië en woon sinds drie jaar in Rotterdam. Ik volg Nederlandse lessen, maar we kunnen ook zonder probleem in het Engels communiceren.
I'm currently in my third year of studying Jazz Vocals at Codarts in Rotterdam, where I'm also continuing to develop my guitar skills. My musical journey started at 16 when I began taking lessons in vocals, guitar, and piano from a variety of teachers—over 10 in total—across more than a decade. Alongside my music studies, I also completed a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, which has given me a structured approach to both my music and teaching.
I've had the pleasure of performing in a range of settings, from playing guitar and singing in a big funk band to leading a jazz quintet for weddings. I've also had my own solo project where I shared my compositions, and I'm currently active in two groups: a Latin music trio and a jazz quartet focused on my original music. This diverse experience has shaped how I teach, and I love passing on the skills I've learned in different genres, from Jazz and Latin to Funk, Pop, and Rock.
In addition to regular lessons, I also specialize in helping students prepare for university auditions. Having applied to five different music schools myself, I know the process from both sides. I've developed a methodical, structured approach to auditions, combining technical preparation with strategies to handle the mental side of performing under pressure. My background in Business Administration also helps me guide students through the logistical side of the application process.
I'm a firm believer in the importance of empathy and patience in teaching. I wasn't always the most “natural” student myself and faced my own challenges with learning. Because of that, I approach every lesson with understanding, creating a supportive space where students feel comfortable learning at their own pace. Whether you're looking to improve your technique, prepare for an audition, or explore new musical styles, I'm here to help you achieve your goals in a fun and inspiring way.
I believe that the responsibility for the student's learning lies with the teacher, and I take that seriously. I'm always committed to finding the right tools and perspectives to support my students' growth. No matter the challenges, I will search for the methods that best fit each individual to ensure continuous progress and development.
The website will show my availability, but I'm also happy to be flexible with scheduling. If you need a different time slot, don't hesitate to ask—I'm open to making adjustments to fit your needs.
As a versatile, multi-disciplinary guitar teacher, I offer lessons tailored to a wide range of musical styles and interests. Whether you're passionate about Jazz, Latin music, Funk, Pop, or Rock, I can guide you through the techniques and concepts that are central to each genre.
My approach is holistic, covering everything from rhythm guitar and accompaniment to developing your skills as a soloist and composer. I focus on building a strong rhythmic foundation, helping you understand timing, groove, and dynamics. For those interested in expanding their musical expression, I also provide tools to help you play and sing simultaneously, integrating guitar into a complete musical performance.
I’m committed to helping you become a well-rounded musician, whether you're playing in a band, composing your own music, or simply enjoying guitar as a solo instrument. Each lesson is designed to meet your personal goals and musical interests, and I strive to make learning both inspiring and enjoyable.
In addition to my regular lessons, I also specialize in preparing students for auditions, especially for those looking to apply to music universities. Having personally applied to five different universities, I understand the audition process from both sides and have developed a structured, goal-oriented approach to performance and preparation. With my background in Business Administration, I bring a disciplined and methodical perspective to audition coaching, helping students not only improve their playing but also manage the stress and logistics of the audition process itself.
My goal is to help you become a well-rounded musician, whether you're aiming to enter a university program, perform with a band, or simply grow as a guitarist. I strive to create a supportive, enjoyable environment where you can achieve your personal musical goals with confidence.
