Hallo!
Hello! My name is Yorgos Efstathiou, and I am a guitar performer and instructor. Originally from Greece, I embarked on my musical journey in the Netherlands due to its rich musical scene. For the past eleven years, I have been pursuing my musical career in Rotterdam, teaching a variety of musical styles to students of all ages.
I picked up the guitar at the age of fourteen, and two decades later, it feels like an extension of my soul. With over twenty years of experience in playing and creating melodies, I have spent eleven of those years sharing my passion as a private instructor and performer. My musical journey has allowed me to teach a diverse range of students—from seven-year-olds to adults—covering genres from pop and blues to the soulful depths of rock, jazz, funk, and folk. Additionally, having grown up listening to Greek folk music on the radio and TV, I can also explore this genre with students using either the guitar or the bouzouki.
During my studies at the Royal Conservatory, I learned to work with the basics of the Kodály solfège system. I also taught ensemble lessons at the International School of The Hague. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of music theory, gaining experience in rhythmic and melodic solfège as well as sight-reading.
These topics are always included in my lessons, as I believe they are crucial not only for the personal growth of each musician but also for creating a deeper connection between the musician and the instrument.
Ultimately, while I enjoy incorporating all these elements into my lessons, I prioritize tailoring the instruction to meet the individual needs of each student, helping to foster their musical curiosity in any way I can.
I look forward to hearing from you and exploring the vast and beautiful world of music together!
